- Apart from food and drinks you can start taking medicines. The two versions which can give a prolonged relief are proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers. In proton pump inhibitor formulation you have medicines like Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, Aciphex and Protonix. With H2 blockers you can have Zantac, Pepcid, Axid and Tagamet.

All these medicines are efficient in giving temporary relief by suppressing the symptoms like heart burn, pain, digestion, etc. But their side effects can be equally serious. The calcium absorption is significant during the medicine course. It weakens the bone and can cause extensive harm during fracture.
