This diet is derived from the book by Arnold Ehret “The Mucusless Diet Healing System”. Arnold suffered from Bright’s disease at the age of 31 which is incurable. Bright’s disease is characterized by the presence of mucus and albumin in the urine along with kidney pain.  He composed a diet that was albumin as well as mucus free to heal and cleanse the body. Before he created this diet he extensively studied many different branches of health including naturopathy, medicine, vegetarianism and physiology.

He initially tried on himself many different approaches of detox diets but only a little improvement was seen. It was not until he tried a temporary diet that he noticed a gradual improvement in his arthritis condition and overall health. He further decided on taking the same diet for a longer period and it proved to be beneficial in improving his health and he treated himself almost completely with the diet.

According to the author of the diet, every diet is based on a mucus clogged system that occurs when undigested and unnatural substances of food accumulate. When these clogged mucus is rid of healthy and better living conditions are achieved. Diseases are mostly due to consuming wrong types of food and by over eating. He planned a detox diet that included green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits to obtain maximum health.

Ehret then formulated a diet that was mucus free and those who will follow the detox diet will enjoy vitality and better health. He did though realize that his designed diet may be too limiting for some and so he recommended that individuals should abstain from sudden dietary modifications that lead to serious health conditions.

The basics of his detox diet were that dieters should take two meals daily and it should include green leafy vegetables as well as fresh fruits along with raw nuts. Also he added that to obtain maximum health fasting is the main key. Basically the diet requires 2 to 3 days fast but those who wish to take a transition diet should take up the diet for a period of 40 days.
